High Protein Bagels

I prefer my bagels with cream cheese and this was still too tangy with the brown sugar addition.  Next time experiment with maple syrup/honey/etc.

QUICK INFO

  • Bake at 350 F for 25 minutes at the very top of your oven.
  • 4 servings,  Estimated 160~ calories with 10g protein.

  • Reserve some egg for the egg wash!

Ingredients
- 5 oz/140 grams of All Purpose Flour (about one cup)
- 1 cup (8 oz/224 grams) nonfat thick Greek yogurt like Fage
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp brown sugar

*Remember to knead the dough mixture for a few minutes.

For my second attempt, I boiled it in water and baking soda for a chewy crust then baked it.

This is what the bagel looks like if it's not boiled. It comes out slightly bigger and fluffy-looking. The outside texture is softer and the inside is still dense. Boiled has a better outside texture.

Note: Made another batch but added 1 scoop of protein casein powder and 1 tsp honey. The flavor was better but this combo came out burnt and underdone.
