I try to avoid these questions because people often associate long lasting hair color with expensive products or unwashed hair as disgusting/dirty. I have no idea what products actually work to maintain color. Personally, it hasn't worked for me. You can leave recommendations in the comments and I could compile a list to share!
The curly girl method works for curls, waves and dry/oily hair.
I don't use products with sulfates or silicone because it strips out my color fast, gives me dryness and a noticeable residue leftover. I don't like the feel from silicones but if it works for you, then keep using! You can use a clarifying shampoo later to remove the residue.
I had to dig up these photos. The change is noticeable.
(1) Before. Over processed and dry lengthy hair.
(2-4) Chopped off! Days 1-3.Conditioner only and olive oil mask (overnight)
Yep, transitioning was a pain. My scalp was already too oily. Jumping right into a new routine had made my hair even worse but after raiding naturallycurly.com CurlTalk forum for photos, I KNEW it would be worth it.
Days of unpredictable nice, softness to limp and oily. The transitioning period took about a month for me. (which could be less or more for others)
You can see the shrinkage too but that means tighter waves/curls!

(1)One month later.
(2)Two months later.(3-4) Two years.
So basically, I wash my hair with conditioner only. Co-wash! All over. I also do not have any oily or dryness since.

I'm all for no heat but I do it anyway. Long hair feels like it takes hours to dry... I'm just REALLY impatient. Air drying for CG method is great. I feel like a master at no heat curls. I know I'm not the only one that can't keep heat induced curls for long and I don't possess skills to curl with a flat iron or clamp curler.
A few good ways to manipulate your hair for more curls:
sea salt + water in a spray can.
soaking wet hair, twice as much gel/product & wrap your hair for hours.
several french braids
extremely messy bun or sleep with a Turbie Twist

$40
I wrap the hair around the barrel and pretend it's a clipless iron :D
This heats up quickly and goes up to 450°F

$80-$90 | free heat proof punch + free s&h!
If you're impatient like me, this is the iron for you! Also heats up quickly and goes up to 400°F. I bought it five years ago and it's STILL amazing. I think this could be used on damp hair but I don't like to hear it sizzle so I'm going to pass on that..

So Gorgeous | John Frieda | Aqua Net
1. I like to use this because well, it smells like orange soda. (:P)
2. Good plus on sale and needed a heat protective spray.
3. Holds curls for 3 days. LOVE.

Mane N Tail | Mill Creek
(1)My love for Mane N Tail. Good for thickening hair. A must for bad haircuts!
(2) The Keratin conditioner is amazing on the ends of hair. Soft. Smells amazing.

Coconut oil
a rare conditioning treatment.
I don't really use anything for maintaining color unless it's a cheap conditioner with drops of dye! Lots of cold washes.
This is so late, sorry!
How do you get your color to last? (Natural colors too, I'm curious!)
